Hello fans of Band 6,
We did it! Band 6 played Karl's Klipper last night, Saturday, June 27, 2009, and if we do say so ourselves, it was a roaring success! First and foremost, the show was the debut of our new guitar player Charlie Hallowell, who wowed the crowds with his searing solos and adept rhythmic attack (and his singing on I Saw Her Standing There).
Not that the rest of us were chopped liver! Cathy was in her usual fine vocal form, Mike played slide guitar like his life depended on it, Guy did a masterful job on keys and vocals, and T-Bone and Dickie held down the rhythm section like nobody's business.
The song which we debuted last night was End Of The Line (Traveling Wilburys). Songs which we brought back after extended hiatus included The Way (Fastball), A Change Will Do You Good (Sheryl Crow), and Born On The Bayou (Creedence Clearwater Revival).
We saw many friends last night: the Long Island crowd really surprised us with their presence; Mom Reina stayed for two whole sets (anything to see her 3 sons); and even when the dining room wound down to Roni, Patty, and T-Bone's 2 long-suffering S.I. friends, we played, they danced, and it could have gone on longer! (but we was tired).
Next? Back to Karl's in the next few months; a Rockville Centre L.I. gig at a joint called Reflections; Rhythms Of The Night in Manville (a perennial favorite) in October; and quite possibly a return to the Sidewalk Cafe in Manhattan NYC!! Watch this space for updates.

IF YOU WERE THERE ON SATURDAY 6/27: post us your comments, observations, requests, wish lists, unsolicited advice, etc and so on. Even if you wasn't there, comment anyway!

  1. It was great to see Band 6 back in action on Saturday night after a too long hiatus and great to see long term followers/supporters, Tim, Maureen, Frannie, Dave. Great to see Dave and Frannie up on the dance floor - but what's wrong with Tim's dancing shoes?

Charlie did a great job, can't wait to see him on the Rhythms stage where he has lots of wandering space. The other new guy, oh yeah GUY sounded great. TBone, Mike, and Cathy, great as usual. And that drummer! How do you improve on perfection? He just gets better and better - and his stage presence - nice faces!

Thanks to my friends Janet, Rich, and Jill who came out to hear the band, and thanks to Rich for getting the dancing going!

Wish list - some newer songs for the Irish followers - Snow Patrol, U2, etc.

Look forward to the next gig and getting a photo of the Band in Tim and Maureen's screening room!
